FAQ’s

Do you do tours?

We do. However, the barn is closed during the winter (mid-January to mid-April) and guided tours are not available. We usually have two Open Barn Days during the warmer months, one in May and another in October when people can explore the property. During the warmer months, there are usually other times when no events are scheduled and we can show you around.

Are you open year round?

Our season is from early June to mid-October.

Are tables and chairs included in the barn rental fee?

Because each couple has their own unique style, we leave the selection of tables and chairs up to you. There are several rental companies listed on the vendor tab of our website who are ready to help you pull together all your rental needs for tables and chairs as well as other necessities needed for the perfect wedding day.

I will be catering or bar-tending an event at your venue. Do you have any guidelines or rules I must follow?

Yes, click here for our Catering and Bartending Policies.

Do you offer wedding packages?

Our pricing reflects renting the barn as a venue only. We do not offer packages.

Are there really barn swallows in the barn?

Yes. And we’re glad they are here! Due to development and the resulting loss of habitat, the barn swallow population in New Hampshire is declining at a rapid rate. Barn swallows have been nesting in The Barn at Moody Mountain Farm for over 50 years. One barn swallow can consume over 5000 mosquitoes per day!

Can I bring my dog to the wedding?

We are pet lovers too and have no objections if a couple wants to include a dog or two in their ceremony.

Are you a barn or a function hall?

The Barn at Moody Mountain Farm is an original 19th century barn which has been meticulously maintained. It has not been extensively renovated or converted into a function hall.

How many people can the barn accommodate?

Our maximum occupancy is 150 people total on the property (in the barn and in any tents located on the property).

Is the barn heated (or does it have air conditioning)?

The barn is not heated. For cooler months it is possible to rent heaters and locate them on the outside of the barn and have the warm air vented inside the barn through the windows. The barn is too large to cool down with an air conditioner, but it stays fairly cool most of the time.

Do you have a dance floor?

Depending on how you set up there is room inside the barn to dance directly on the floor of the barn making dance floor rental unnecessary.

Can I use my own caterer, or do I have to use one from your list?

You may use any caterer you like, but they must provide us a copy of their liability insurance certificate.

Is there a kitchen on site where we can prepare all the food for our wedding reception?

No, we do not have a kitchen on site for food prep. If you plan to cook your own food you would need to have all your own off-premise cooking equipment, or rent it.

Do you sell liquor?

No. You must hire a licensed and insured bar-tender or bar-tending service or work with a caterer that holds a liquor license. Self-serve bars are not permitted. BYOB events are not permitted.

Do you allow fireworks?

The Town of Wolfeboro prohibits the use of fireworks.

Is the farmhouse on site available for rent?

The adjacent farmhouse is not available for rent.

Are restroom trailers allowed?

No. We provide portable restrooms which are professionally cleaned prior to your event

Where are you located?

We are located in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire in Wolfeboro. Lake Winnipesaukee and downtown Wolfeboro are approximately 12 minutes away. See the map and directions on the Contact tab.
